MAR Winter Policy and Issues Symposium
Registration is closed

You are invited to the annual Minnesota Academy of Reading's Winter Policy and Issues Symposium!

This year’s symposium continues to explore the ways that writing instruction can impact students’ reading comprehension.  The conversation began in the summer book clubs and the Distinguished Scholar Symposium with Dr. Steven Graham’s work Writing to Read:  Evidence of how writing can improve reading.  If you haven’t had a chance to participate in the collaborative learning that has been occurring across the state, now is the time to join the conversation!

Our discussion will focus on a variety of tools and techniques for analyzing student work samples to inform our instructional decisions in literacy.  Participants are asked to bring a few examples of student work to share in small groups.  Student work might include a digital photograph of students’ projects or response journals, student writing samples, a video of a student’s speech or presentation, etc.  Rubrics and writing progressions will be modeled and applied.

This event is free to MAR members and students.

Registration is $12.00 for nonmembers.
